OUTER HEBRIDES FISHERIES TRUST SEASONAL ASSISTANT
A seasonal assistant post is available with OHFT July – September working on a range of projects.
The Outer Hebrides Fisheries Trust (OHFT) was formed as the Western Isles Fisheries Trust (WIFT) in 1996. The Trust is a charitable, community-based organisation conducting scientific research into wild fish stocks and advising on freshwater fisheries management.
Key items of work that the seasonal assistant will help deliver include:
· Coastal Fyke Netting
· Sea lice monitoring
· Isotope tracing (Southampton University)
· National Electrofishing Programme Scotland (NEPS)
· Local estate surveys
The candidate must be fit, motivated, hardworking and willing to work outdoors during all weather conditions. A full valid driving licence is essential. The position will be based in Stornoway at the fisheries trust office Marybank.
This full-time, fixed-term seasonal post is a wonderful opportunity for a student or recent graduate with an environmental, fisheries or similar degree to gain a range of valuable work experience.
3 month fixed term contract
Full time (37.5hrs/week)
Salary £8.91/hr
